Join the Section on Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery

The Section on Cardiology was founded in 1955 and is committed to improving the care of infants, children, and adolescents with regard to pediatric cardiology. The Section was combined with the Section on Cardiac Surgery in 2002. Objectives for the Section on Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery include providing an opportunity within the Academy for the presentation and discussion of investigations and scientific observations pertaining to the cardiovascular system in children.

Membership in the Section is open to all Fellows of the Academy with an interest in pediatric cardiology, provided that they are additionally sub-board certified in pediatric cardiology. Specialty Fellow membership is open to surgeons who are boarded by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, or verified international equivalent, who devote 50% of their practice to infants, children and adolescents. Post residency fellows in training, or sub-board eligible candidates may join the Section as Post Residency Training Fellows. The Section has a current membership of 750. Dues are annually assessed at $30. Visit the AAP Membership web page.
